It is quarter past five Sunday morning and for some strange reason I can’t sleep. So I thought I would write a little blog for my beloved website and put together a few thoughts on how I thought tonight went, how I feel now etc.
This morning I was excited, I have worked so hard for this fight it is untrue. As the days drew nearer it was a battle just to hold it all together and not get carried away.
Tonight when I got to the O2 arena, a few of my team said there is a lot of people out there. A lot of GG t-shirts! I didn’t think much of it. Wow! The atmosphere in the arena tonight was spine tingling. I can’t believe so many people came to support me. I always knew my crowd would drown out his but still. The place erupted, and it didn’t stop all night long. I feel truly blessed at this moment. Not because I have won another belt because I always knew I would but to receive such support from so many people is amazing. I truly thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart! I really am on cloud nine.
This people though is only the beginning. We are destined for much bigger and better things; more exciting nights and I hope you all enjoy the journey as much as I will.

|2011-05-22 12:37:16 Steven Robinson - GG = Amazing Fights!!!!Great technical fight, all the critics and boo hooers etc... will say you were lucky etc... the truth is it was a very close fight but your plan worked he ran out of ideas and you scored more telling punches which when you consider you boxed off the back foot means you had to be the winner. As the great Mayweather tells everyone the computer don't lie and it said you won too. Congratulations you thoroughly deserved it and showed tremendous character, although had you kept your hands up a bit more the scorecards could have been wider, but i'm sure you and Adm will work on that in the coming months. Can't wait to see who they match you up with next!!!!!!!

Great to read your blog and share some of the emotions you have gone through on the night. I think you have it in you to become the new Ricky Hatton. Not in terms of fighting style, but as the new peoples' champion. I would urge you to learn from Ricky's mistakes which I'm sure you will, under Adam Booth's tutelage.
Ricky was so good with his offensive boxing that he got away with mistakes, until he fought against the very best. You clearly have the intelligence to learn and apply your training to the fight. I see a great future for you and Adam, and after last night's masdterclass I am more confident about David's chances on July 2nd.
Stay grounded and enjoy the journey with those close to you and be sure to keep the right people around you. The future is bright and I wish you the very best.

Firstly congratulations on beating DeFail. I have NEVER seen a boxing match before and never had any interest. My mate's birthday yesterday & he wanted to watch the fight (he's Team DeFail tho') in the pub. So off we went, me really NOT looking forward to it. But then you came on and instantly I liked your grace & attitude. Professional. That DeFail has a nastly attitude and appears to have a MASSIVE ego. So I decided I wanted you to win cos' of this (and the fact that you're proper fit as and fitter than DeFail!. So after the 1st round I was literally hooked (pardon the pun) and so was half the pub. All was in your corner see, it's cos' you got dignity. Style & carisma. Not that I know much about boxing, but I think DeFail did but up a good fight. Just that you was better. It appeared to me that you was 'think fighting' by which I mean you was thinking about each throw and the potential come back. Intelligent fighting if you will. Anyway, congratulations. Very well done George. Me and my other half have been watching you since you were first on tv and straight away new you were something special. you've done everyone proud. I couldn't make it last night but left my mates stag do to make sure I was watching it and was shouting the pub house down for you.
Your absolutely right that your on your way to greater things i see you having the fan base that Ricky had and getting to the levels that he was at fighting the best of the best. I think that you have got the boxing brain to go all the way and i will be supporting you all through it. Me and my other half will be needing tickets for your next fight whoever it is against. If you look at the quality of opponent you have fought in compariosn with DeGale and you look at your trainer and master tactician then there was never any question in my mind that you would win. Shame on all the sky sports boxing pundits and journos who thought otherwise, but they have been proven wrong on occasions in the past. They were saying how you looked nervous and scared at the weigh in and in pre fight interviews however it was obvious that this stemmed for an inner belief and inner calmness.
So proud of you !! Well done and agree you should move on to bigger and better, DeGale doesn't bring anything to the table now.

Missed your big fight due to being away, but when I found out you'd won I was absolutely ecstatic. I've watched the fight since and Degale is not deserving of a rematch at all. I had you winning by 3 clear rounds- the judges and commentators were very generous to that tosspot Degale in my book.
Well done to your team too because they did well in your corner keeping your game in check. You'll have a fair few more fans at your next fight so good luck with that now. What a night it was at the O2 Arena we were there and supporting you all the way. The first time i had seen boxing live ever apart from watching it loads on the TV over the past years. Wish I could have been there to see it in person, but had a show in Leeds on Sunday morning. I said all along that you would beat him and I won a nice little sum in the process, I didn't let the bookies off the bet though!
Your game plan was fantastic and Adam Booth read Degale’s mind set perfectly. I think you are going to fill the void that Hatton left, your going to have some massive fights down the line and even bigger support. There is no reason to fight Degale again yet, if he wins a world title and I stress "IF" fight him then..... on your terms. I'll make it down for your next fight, whoever it is against.

But at 2-0 I don't personally think that's necessary. When you've won the world title and unified the division you could perhaps give James a rematch when it suits you. What was probably the most impressive thing about your win was how you carried yourself throughout this. You behaved with dignity and amazing self control.Even just before the fight, when even i was feeling nervous for you, you just were so self controlled it was inspirational. When james was giving you dreadful abuse and behaving really dissappointingly in the run up, you just behaved like a gentleman and a superstar!!Then, you went out and showed that your self confidence was based on a real solid foundation. I think Adam has the real knack of engendering self confidence and self control. Freddy Roach, maybe there is a new best trainer in the world!!I think James needs to cop on and get adam as a trainer, if you two could ever get along! This means majority of people did NOT think you won. It must be hard to really believe you won if you read in every article that your win is contradicted.
You cannot honestly say the belt was won. It was more of a steal, you run, boxing off the back foot! Who would have thought the challenger would ever be able to "win" by running. The challenger's supposed to be the aggressor.
Despite your "win" James still gets to box for the European belt before you, this shows how contradicted DeGales's loss must have been if the board are happy to approve this. Once DeGale has the European he'll be back for you - he is your madatory defence stop running from a rematch

While it was a very close match James inability to beat George, box only one way and not be able to change his game plan when it wasnt working was his downfall and unless he learns from that it will happen to him again in the future.
